Lost Painting

Untitled acrylic on canvas approximately 56 inches x 72 inches

I did this painting in 1971 at the University of South Dakota. At the time I was doing abstract art based on geologic formations. This particular work appeared in my senior show and the school wanted to keep it for its permanent collection. Instead, I gave it to my girlfriend, later my wife. After we were married and living in a tiny place I had to store this painting in a shed and it ended up being badly mildewed and I burned it.

I haven't posted recently because I'm in the process of moving the studio. During the move I found this scratchboard piece. I remember it was a struggle to make because the cheap board was tough to scratch the ink from.
