We spent nearly every evening in Costa Rica sitting on the patio, looking out at the ocean and hoping to see the green flash. Twice we were successful and one evening the flash was especially pronounced and beautiful. However, this little watercolor was done on an evening when there were too many clouds to see the effect.

Whale's Tale

On a recent trip to Costa Rica I did some quick watercolor sketches. This is Punta Uvita at the south end of Playa Hermosa and is called the Whale's Tale because of its shape. My vantage point was high and miles away. A vast landscape is probably not the best choice for a tiny watercolor. Barely discernible in the distance is the Osa Peninsula.
